11.8 Traffic jam

This example, which is shown in Figure 58, describes a traffic situation where the Ego vehicle approaches a traffic jam of six other vehicles on a three-lane motorway.

At the initialization phase, the Ego vehicle is initialized with a speed of 130 km/h at the leftmost lane. The vehicles forming the traffic jam are initialized ahead of the Ego vehicle with a speed of 0 km/h. Pairs of vehicles form a rescue alley on the three lanes of the motorway. Each of the pairs features a longitudinal gap of 8 m between its two corresponding vehicles.

  • Vehicle A1 is initialized 145 m ahead of the Ego vehicle.

  • Vehicle A2 is initialized 153 m ahead of the Ego vehicle.

  • Vehicle A3 is initialized 148 m ahead of the Ego vehicle.

  • Vehicle A4 is initialized 156 m ahead of the Ego vehicle.

  • Vehicle A5 is initialized 151 m ahead of the Ego vehicle.

  • Vehicle A6 is initialized 159 m ahead of the Ego vehicle.

This scenario instantiates entities of Vehicle using cartesian coordinates and various relative position types.
